Start-up and adjustment activities and acceptance testing

Start-up and adjustment activities and acceptance testing are carried out:
1 Upon finishing the installation of the system on board of a vessel in order to check its functional capacity and for its demonstration to the Register.
2 After substitution of fire-extinguishing aerosol generators.

Upon completion of installation of an aerosol fire-extinguishing system, it is necessary to perform start-up and adjustment activities and acceptance testing in the presence of an inspector of the Register. These activities must be performed by an organization certified by the Register and authorized by the SPA “KASKAD” Ltd.

Goals and objectives of start-up and adjustment activities:

Start-up and adjustment activities are performed by technicians in order to check the quality of installation and the functional capacity of the aerosol fire-extinguishing system and to prepare it for acceptance testing in the presence of the inspector from the Register.

The acceptance testing of aerosol fire-extinguishing systems is carried out in accordance with the schedule and by the methods approved by the Register.

Tests are carried out on board a moored vessel and comprise:
  • a visual check of the aerosol fire-extinguishing system’s components;
  • a check in the “Сontrol of good condition” mode;
  • a check of the system’s intended purpose (with simulation systems);
  • a functional check of the aerosol fire-extinguishing system with a short-circuit in its start circuit;
  • The results of the acceptance testing of the aerosol fire-extinguishing system are recorded as a protocol. A copy of this protocol is to be sent to the SPA “KASKAD” Ltd.
