Components of the Aerosol Fire-extinguishing System

Fire-extinguishing aerosol generators They are to be installed directly in the protected spaces and provide for the delivery of the aerosol which is produced during the generator’s operation. The fire-extinguishing aerosol enters the protected space where it is distributed over its volume in a fire-extinguishing concentration which stops the combustion including that of live electrical equipment.

Control and Signaling Panel (CSP) The control and signaling panel (CSP) of the aerosol fire-extinguishing system is intended for launching the fire-extinguishing aerosol generators and sending the signal for isolation of the ventilation and other equipment in the protected space and for switching on the OSKS sound-and-light alarm.

Board of Intermediate Relays (BIR) The Board of Intermediate Relays (BIR) is intended for controlling the shipboard equipment (isolation of the forced ventilation, of the boiler, of the air-conditioning system, etc.) and for giving alarms in the protected space in accordance with the signals received from the control and Signaling Panel.

Connection Box CBK1 The CBK1 junction box is intended for routing the cables of the generators’ start circuits in protected spaces.

Combined visual/audible ship alarm device OSKS The Combined visual/audible ship alarm device (OSKS) is intended for sending the sound and light “Aerosol! Go away!” alarm in shipboard aerosol fire-extinguishing systems. The combined visual/audible ship alarm device (OSKS) starts emitting sound and light signals as soon as it gets powered and stops when the programmed time of its intervention is over.
